About InstallationMasters

There are currently three separate segments of the InstallationMasters® program available which are listed below, both of which address water management, installation materials and components, installation practices for various fenestration frame styles and shapes, job site safety, product performance and operator types, and more through classroom training.

InstallationMasters Original Training and Certification Program

This original segment covers both new construction and replacement window and door installation, and it is based on:

  • ASTM E2112 - Standard Practice for Installation of Exterior Windows, Doors and Skylights

Installers complete a two-day class and written exam to become certified. For instructors, a five-day class and written exam are required.

InstallationMasters Replacement Training and Certification Program

Released in 2017, this segment focuses on replacement and retrofit applications, and the content is based on:

  • ASTM E2112 Standard Practice for Installation of Exterior Windows, Doors and Skylights
  • AAMA 2410 - Standard Practice for Installation of Windows with an Exterior Flush Fin Over an Existing Window 

Installers currently complete a two-day class and written exam to become certified. A one-day installer class format will be available soon! For instructors, a four-day class and written exam are required.

InstallationMasters New Construction Training and Certification Program

Released in 2019, this segment focuses on new construction window and door installation, and the content is based on:

  • ASTM E2112 - Standard Practice for Installation of Exterior Windows, Doors and Skylights
  • AAMA 2400-10Standard Practice for Installation of Windows with a Mounting Flange in Open Stud Frame Constructions for Low Wind/Water Exposure
  • FMA/AAMA/WDMA 500-16 - Standard Practice for the Installation of Mounting Flange Windows into Walls Utilizing Foam Plastic Insulating Sheathing (FPIS) with a Separate Water-Resistive Barrier (WRB)
  • FMA/AAMA/WDMA 300-12 - Standard Practice for the Installation of Exterior Doors in Wood Frame Construction for Extreme Wind/Water Exposure
  • FMA/AAMA 100-12Standard Practice for the Installation of Windows with Flanges or Mounting Fins in Wood Frame Construction for Extreme Wind/Water Conditions

What does the training offer?

The InstallationMasters Training and Certification Program offers information on industry-accepted installation practices and other critical information related to the window and exterior glass door installation business. The program offers training in subject matter even experienced individuals might not otherwise obtain.

Individuals will be exposed to numerous topics related to both new construction and replacement installation of residential and light commercial windows and exterior glass doors. The training focuses on understanding windows and doors as well as current installation practices of these products. The training will provide individuals the opportunity to gain the knowledge necessary to perform their work in a satisfactory manner. Training involves subjects that range from initial site inspection to final cleaning and maintenance of installed product.
